Easy Styles for Toddlers

A friend of mine requested tutorials for toddler hairstyles. My daughter is 8 years old, but I still have had the chance to play with hair of younger children. My friend's daughter has little hair around her head, but she has longer strands near the top of her head that go down to her ear. Her daughter reminds me of my daughter as a baby, who was born with long red hair; however, her long hair was only on the top of her head. The rest was peach fuzz. My daughter’s hair was long and crazy and took me years to tame. I know a lot of the issues my dear friend has with her daughter's hair. I did not always do cute styles on my daughter when she was a toddler. At the time, I would go off memory of styles my Mom would do on my sister and me. For the first two years, I would do lots of ponytails. I decided that ponytails were boring and found the world of hairstyle bloggers, which changed our lives! I am going to share some pictures of simple toddler hairstyles that my daughter once wore. I will be doing a series of toddler style videos soon, but for now, I thought this would work.

The first picture is A's daily hair without any brushing and ponytails. a
Second Picture is a small clip, this just keeps hair out of the eyes and really easy to do on any age
The bottom pictures are simple ponytails. For toddlers it is best to use small elastics and cut out with baby nail clippers by pulling the elastic away from the head and cutting.
It is easy to do a simple ponytail on the side or the middle of the head or you can make pigtails.

When A was a baby I did small ponytails and pig tails often. The style is really easy and keeps hair out of the eyes. I always put in bows to add that special touch.

Top left- 2 twists then clipped off on the side of the head
Top Center- Again, 2 easy pigtails
Top Left- 4 topsy tails. This style takes 3 minutes to do and I think any family with a girl should have a topsy tail, in my opinion. Make a loose ponytail and poke a hole in the center and pull the hair up and into the hole and gently tug to tighten, continue this all the way down, until you are ready to stop. I will be doing a video on how to do the topsy tail and a few styles using it.
Bottom Left- Pull Through Braids are one of the best toddler styles. You use elastics and it keeps any hair tied back nice and its a cheat braid. Make a ponytail and split the ponytail in half horizontally. The bottom part of the hair put an elastic around it about 1 inch down the first elastic. Split the hair and pull the top section of the hair through. Continue the steps until you are ready to stop and tie off with an elastic.
Middle Right -  Split a small section of hair above the right ear and tie off with an elastic. Take another section above that elastic combine the hair from the first elastic into the second do that all the way across the head to the left ear.
Bottom Left- Elastic styles are the best for toddlers, split the hair in front into 4 sections and tie off with elastics

Top Left- Make a small ponytail in the center and split in half twist each side and put into pigtails
Top Center- Make a ponytail in the center and tie a braid down the ponytail and tie off.
Top Right- Every little girl loves a simple ponytail. It is the perfect style for an active girl
Center Left- Make pigtails and braid down the end
Center Middle- Another simple side ponytail. A big pretty bow can make a whole new look
Center Right- Make a loose ponytail in the center make a hole in the ponytail and pull the hair up and through the ponytail and tighten. This works best with a topsy tail tool.
Bottom Left- This is a great style for someone that knows how to french braid. Start a french braid on one side of the head and braid around the top of the head and tie off near the ear.
Bottom Center- A toddler bubble braid. Part hair down the head in the center, Tie off a small section on the top. Tie off another small section bellow the elastic and combine hair from the first ponytail and combine in the second, do this all the way down the head.
Bottom Right- Split the hair down the center, and put in 4 loose ponytails, make a center hole in each ponytail, flip the hair around and inside the hole. Do the same flip in all 4 ponytails.
